Scotland superfan Neil McKnight flew 4,000 miles to watch his team lose 3-0 to Brazil on a TV screen.

What drove his dedication?

The 62-year-old from Ayr, now living in Sawbridgeworth, Herts, wanted to be part of the Tartan Army for the World Cup. He spent over £1000 on a 70-hour trip to Miami, despite not getting a ticket for the game.

The experience

Neil stayed in an AirBnB in Little Havana and enjoyed the atmosphere in the Fanfest and bars. He said: "I've had a fantastic time, it's really been worth every penny." The retired programme manager has seen Scotland play at Hampden Park many times, but this was his first time watching them overseas.

A dream fulfilled

Neil had dreamed of watching Scotland in the World Cup since the 1978 Argentina tournament. He decided to take the plunge and travel to Miami, despite the expense and difficulty of getting tickets. His wife Alison and friend Andy Clayden, an England and QPR fan, supported his decision.
