Sebastien Pocognoli has begun his tenure as Scotland head coach with a training camp in La Manga, Spain, ahead of two World Cup qualifiers. The new boss has selected a squad where 15 of the 27 players were not part of the group for the last World Cup.
Pocognoli's side, currently third in their World Cup qualifying group with three points from three games, face Slovenia in Ljubljana on Saturday night. They then host Switzerland at Hampden Park next Tuesday. The camp in Murcia is a key opportunity to implement his ideas before those key matches.
Scotland's form has been mixed, with three wins and two defeats in their last five outings. Their most recent results were back-to-back losses, a 3-0 defeat to Brazil and a 1-0 loss to Morocco in June.
The squad is without several experienced figures for this camp. Forward Che Adams, striker Lawrence Shankland, and midfielder Scott McTominay are all currently sidelined, which opens the door for new faces in Pocognoli's plans. The full squad list is available on our squad page.
With the team four points behind group leaders Brazil, the matches against Slovenia and Switzerland represent a significant test of the new coach's early work.
